Filming Log
15th November 2013
Today we filmed our first interview with a young driver. We also filmed some roadside driving which we can use during the voiceover in the finished documentary. After reviewing the young driver interview, we decided that we can't use it as the framing and mise en scene aren't correct. The mise en scene wasn't correct as he was outside and stood up instead of in a car as he doesn't own one yet. Today we also rang around for driving instructors for interviews and were only able to get one.
18th November 2013
Today we had our second young driver interview with Danielle. This time we changed the mise en scene to inside her car. We think this interview turned out better and we will use it. We also filmed bits of the car for our opening sequence such as the indicators, pedals and window wipers etc.
20th November 2013
Today we had an interview with our first driving instructor from Aces Driving School. As the weather was cold, the mise en scene was him in the car even though we had planned him to be sat on a chair in front of the car. Also, when we reviewed the interview, he was looking up and leaning to the side, therefore we can't use it.
21st November 2013
Today, as we had no camera booked out, we were unable film, and we also had no luck in setting up anymore interviews with driving instructors.
22nd November 2013
Today we filmed B-Roll of the traffic behind college as they were driving along the road as well as close-up shots of L Plates.
25th November 2013
Today, we again tried ringing around for driving instructors interviews however, many of them didn't answer or said they can't.
27th November 2013
Today we went to the Police Station to arrange an interview with a traffic officer. We also took shots of police cars to use as B-Roll in our documentary.
28th November 2013
Today we filmed our third interview with a young driver and again, used the mise en scene in her car. We can use this interview as the framing, sound and mise en scene are perfect for our documentary. We also took shots of the car moving for our opening sequence again.
29th November 2013
Today we had planned on getting the bus to the town centre to film our voxpop. We had booked the camera out for two hours to give us time to get there and set up. However the traffic was horrendous and by the time we got there, we had little to no time to set up and get some footage.
2nd December 2013
Today we started to add the footage we had gotten to our logging sheet.
4th December 2013
Today we rang again for driving instructors, yet again they all continued to say no or just not answer our calls.
5th December 2013
Today, updated our blog to add work that we had not yet updated.
6th December 2013
Today we needed to find driving instructors as we only had one but were unable to find one.
9th December 2013
As we had not planned anything fro today, we decided to update our blogs and logging sheet.
11th December 2013
We had arranged an interview for today with a driving instructor, however they didn't shows up and did not answer our calls when we tried contacting them to rearrange it.
13th December 2013
Today we tried to film in the town centre, however we were approached by a security member who told us that we couldn't film where we were. After this, we had no time to get anymore footage of our voxpop.
15th December 2013
Today we had two interviews with the parents of two young drivers we had already interviewed. For both interviews we filmed them inside their houses as we had no other mise en scene for them. These both turned out well and have the potential for editing well.
16th December 2013
Today we continued to update out logging sheet to add on the interviews that we did over the weekend. We also transferred them from the camera to the computer so they are available to us any time.
6th January 2014
As we had nothing planned for today, we updated our blogs and also made a list of the possible people we could have as interviewees.
8th January 2014
Today we were able to manage to orginize a young driver interview for the 10th January. We also updated our blogs.
9th January 2014
Today we went out of college to do some more voxpop at our local Morrisons. As we got there, it wasn't very busy and so we decided to walk to Stockton Heath where it was much busier. We set up the tripod and the camera wouldn't turn on as the battery had ran out. Because of this, we headed back to college and didn't have enough time to get another camera battery and walk back to Stockton Heath.

Today, we interviewed a young driver who is still learning to drive.

Today we booked out cameras for after college and took them back to my house for a interview with my Dad and Brother. These interviews was good because they was both experience drivers and had a insect to the topic we discussed.

Today we went to our local town centre to redo our voxpop. Here we were able to interview 6-7 people on their opinion of young drivers.

Today we edited our 5 minute documentary on young drivers.

Today we edited our 5 minute documentary on young drivers and also scripted the voiceover for it.
21st January 2014
We had our documentary looked at today to see if we needed to make any changes. We were told to add more cutaways and get some more footage of learner driver cars. For our opening sequence, we also needed to get some footage of the steering wheel being turned right.
23rd January 2014
As we needed this footage, today, we booked the cameras out and were able to do this on the road entrance to the college. We were also able to get the footage of the turning of the steering wheel.
24th January 2014
Because we got the footage yesterday, we were able to edit this into our documentary where needed while taking out and shortening some of the documentary that we didn't need to make it 5 minutes. We were also able to record our voice over for the documentary and edit it into it.
